Dear friends.. as you might have noticed we are no friends of rules. We would much rather have no rules and allow everyone to enjoy the game as they deem fit. Unfortunately, as Ultima Online is a multiplayer roleplaying game we also believe that we must form a small common denominator that applies to all Endeffectors.
Please note that as soon as you are using one of our services, be it the shard itself, the webpage, IRC or the forums you must agree to these rules!
1. Bug Abuse/Unattended Macroing
1.1 Unattended Macroing
- Unattended Macroing is considered macroing any skill, stat or whatever "unattended", this means: you are not watching your screen while raising your skills, stats and whatever. Unattended Macroing is not legal on EndEffect, if you are caught we will take appropriate action.
- Normal Macroing (meaning: you are at least watching your screen while macroing) is of course allowed. Make sure though, that you respond to people if they are talking to you, especially if it is a member of staff! If you do not respond for some minutes the staff will assume that you are macroing unattended, and therefore jail you.
- Repeated Unattended Macroing: if you are caught more than 3 times macroing unattended the EndEffect staff might lower one of your skills again to make chances equal for everyone again.
1.2 Bug Abuse
- Bug Abuse is illegal. You are abusing a bug if you can achieve something that should or is not achievable with normal gameplay.
- If you find a bug we ask you not to tell other players about this bug. This has the simple reason that we want to prevent that severe bugs are abused by a lot of players.
- Please inform us of bugs you have caught; we would like to hear about them, so we are able to fix the issue for you and your fellow players. If at any time you spot something 'bug-spicious', please page for a Counselor!
- You can also inform us about a bug by sending a mail to bugs@endeffect.org. We will of course try our best to fix them as soon as possible!
- Bug Abuse will be punished with jailing. In repeated cases we might take other actions aswell.
- If you are not sure if something is a bug or not (meaning: illegal or not), please check back with a Counselor!
2. Third Party Programs
- Generally Third Party Programs like Injection or UO-Loop are allowed, as long as you do not profit from them in an illegal way. For example: raising your skills because you got more than one character online at once, macroing unattended and so on.
- If you are not sure if we allow a certain program or not, please check back with a member of staff again.
3. Harassment and Grief Play
3.1 Harassment
- Harassment includes using all forms of inappropriate language (swear words directed at another person with the intention of insulting another person,...) and killing others repeatedly without any reason. It also includes the use of offensive names.
- We will take action when harassment occurs, the consequences depend on how severe the case of harassment was.
- We will never accept racist slur or names, if you are using one of those you will be banned from EndEffect immediatly, forever and without turning back. We reserve the right to take legal action when encountering racist or any other kind of illegal transgression on the basis of Austrian law.
3.2 Grief Playing
- Grief Playing is a gaming style that harms other players, but cannot be seen as harassment. It would, for example, include killing the monsters of others repeatedly, luring monsters and then hide with the intent that the monsters will kill another player, following a player around with the intent to disturb him - short, everything that will affect other players in their gameplay in an unattended way.
- We will take appropriate action in severe or repeated cases of grief playing. Playing UO should be fun for everyone - so please treat others in a nice manner!
4.0 Staff
- Members of Staff can be identified by their purple names. If somebody does not have a purple name he is not a member of staff.
- Pretending to be a member of staff when you are not is illegal.
- Each member of staff has the right to take appropriate action if needed. This means: each member of staff is authorized to jail you when you are not following the rules.
- The staff has to be treated with respect. All members of staff are dedicating their spare time to help you out, and they will always treat you nicely. Show them the respect they earn!
- If you are having problems with a certain member of staff or are thinking that the behaviour this staffer exhibited is not correct or legal, please immediately inform SGM Sunrise by sending an e-mail to either sunrise@endeffect.org or staff@endeffect.org. If your complaint is justified, appropriate action will be taken against this member of staff. Oh, and if the person misbehaving is Sunny herself, please email Ava.
- Please do not request presents from any member of staff, as long as the item given is not a quest reward! Staff is not allowed to give you fancy items - with the exception of rewards for quests! If you are offered skills or items by a staffer, please inform sunrise@endeffect.org or staff@endeffect.org.
5.0 Staff
- It is not allowed to own items that are created by abusing a bug or that are achieved by anything else than normal gameplay.
- Duped items (and duping items) are not allowed.
- Special items given out by staff are not allowed, as long as they are not part of a replacement or a quest reward.
6. Replacement of Items/Skills/Stats
- Only items/skills/stats that are lost due to a bug will be replaced. (For example: a ship deed that did not work correctly).
- Characters that are deleted due to inactivity (a total absence longer than 2 months) will not be reconstructed.
- Skills, stats and items lost due to a timewarp will not be replaced.
- Houses that have fallen because they were not refreshed regularily will not be replaced too.
- Please accept if a member of staff is telling you that your skill/stat/item cannot be replaced for any reason. It would simply be unfair if we treated one player in a different way than we treated another one!
7. Account Security
- Please do not give away your account name and/or account password, ever!
- If you think that your account has been hacked, send an e-mail to support@endeffect.org to have your password changed. This causes quite some work for us, so please try to keep your account as save as possible! If you want your account-password changed, make sure that you include your account-name and a working e-mail so that we can contact you!
- No member of staff will ever ask you for your account password, so never give that away! The only information we might need about your account is your account-name - and perhaps a single letter of your password, to verify that you are the legitimate account holder. If you are telling somebody your account name please make sure that you are talking to a member of staff (they have purple names) and that no other people are around!
- These rules should of course be understood as guidelines for your own Account Security! We will not punish you, of course, if you are giving away your account information to somebody you trust to refresh your houses and chars!
8. Advertizing
- Using one of our services (shard, IRC, webpage, forums) to advertise for another shard, webpage or whatever is not allowed.
- You may of course post links to your own webpage, if this webpage has to do something with EndEffect, for example, if you made up a webpage for your UO-EndEffect-Guild.
- Please do no advertise for EndEffect on any other free-shards' webpages. It really makes us happy that you want to help us spread the world, but we would not like people from other freeshards advertising for themselves on here, so we do not do this to others aswell.
- If you are interested in a link/banner exchange, or are running a project that you think might be of interest to us, feel free to contact us! Please check back if it is fine for us if your content is posted on our webpage, though! (Click on the "Contact Us" Button on the main page to find all addresses that you could need!)
9. Forums/IRC/Webpage
- All rules that apply to your behavious on-shard also apply for your behaviour in the forums, on the webpage and IRC.
- Always use proper language; swear words, cussing and inappropriate language and/or content will not be tolerated.
- Regarding forums: please try to post your new threads in the correct section! (It is not too bad if you don't, though) :)
- Flamewars should be kept at a minimum. If you think that you have to flame, please do not use foul language or offend any other user. Flame if you must, but do it in a nice and correct manner.
- Keep in mind that some players are offended more easily than others - the forums, webpage and IRC should be places where everyone can relax and enjoy a friendly atmosphere. So something that is not that bad for you could terribly disturb another one, please try to keep that in mind.
- In rare cases your behaviour in the forums/IRC/webpage might also influence your on-shard characters. This means, that if we have to ban you from the forums/IRC/webpage we might also ban you from the shard itself.
